The networks of automotive supplier EDAG fell victim to ransomware, which quickly locked down a number of business critical systems.

To remove the infection from the network and return to a safe operational state, external help was called in for incident response. Additionally, protection against secondary attacks on the temporarily vulnerable systems was required.
